I’m Bruno Alves

I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and my journey into programming began in high school when I chose IT as a subject. I had always been curious about how software works under the hood and how it’s developed, fascinated by the power it holds. Studying IT gave me the chance to explore that curiosity in depth, and from that point on, programming became more than a hobby - it became a true passion.

After graduating from high school, I relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, to pursue my university studies. I earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Information Technology from CTI Education Group in 2016. Eager to deepen my knowledge, I continued my education in 2017 by completing an Honours degree in Information Systems (BCom) at the University of Cape Town.

From that point on, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in software development - one where I could challenge myself daily, solve real-world problems, and continue learning and growing. The constant challenges of software engineering motivate me to improve continuously. I strive to do things better, both personally and professionally, and I have always brought this mindset to every project I have been involved in.

I’m currently a consultant developer at Capitec Bank through Entelect, where I contribute to the retail banking space and build internal tools that streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and support day-to-day operations.
